Zwartfontein is another Vaal Dam fishing spot in the northern part of the dam. They have the odd club competition but specialize as a family getaway venue with quite a few accommodation options including cozy chalets and camping.
The fishing is the same as any of the better Vaal Dam fishing spots. Lots of small fish easily caught with the occasional bigger carp caught (especially at night).
- bring your own drinking water
- fires not permitted on ground, bring your own braai if camping
- catch and release only, no keepnets
- there is a shop offering the basics like wood, ice, cold drinks, bait, sweets and water
- pet-friendly
- casting deep works best, around 90m should be good
- during a recent comp banana (banjo, banlick) worked well
- but surely any Vaal Dam favourites should work

When passing the Heidelberg/ Villiers crossing towards Villiers take the second right turn marked as the Aeolians Yacht Club. Follow the gravel road until the split and keep left until you reached the gate.
